6th Annual Sedona/Verde Valley Pride Festival and Equality Celebration in September

Clear your calendars and start buying shoes now, because this year’s Sedona/Verde Valley PRIDE Festival is gearing up to be the biggest yet! From Thursday, September 25th through Sunday the 28th, you are welcome to come join our PRIDE family for a weekend of fun, education, and to show your support for equality!

Events include parties, a brunch with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a pool party, a fashion show fundraiser, garden tours, guided meditations and more, including the festival itself on Saturday, September 27th!

Mix-and-Mingle-LogoThursday, September 25th

The “Free2BU” Festival roars to life on Thursday the 25th, at 6:00pm at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre in Sedona. Come down and help thank all the wonderful sponsors who make the S/VV PRIDE Festival happen. Meet new friends and let our community greet you while showing your support for basic human rights! The Mix & Mingle Soiree starts at 6:00pm where you can meet some of our Festival Sponsors and some of the entertainment we have lined up for the weekend.

Friday, September 26th

GardenLogoOn Friday and Saturday, start your morning right with a cool stroll through the PRIDE Victory Garden in Cottonwood. Special “garden angels” will be on hand to give you guided tours from 8am to 10am, where you can cultivate your own gardening tips or taste the vibrant flavors of freshly picked seasonal vegetables. (The PRIDE Victory Garden is open to the public all year, FYI!) To learn more about the Pride Victory Garden, you can find them on Facebook as well as on this page. This is a free event and open to the public.

Fashion-Show-LogoFriday night, the Guilty Pleasures Fashion Show & Fundraiser kicks off at 8:00pm at Relics in Sedona. The party starts with mingling with our special guest models and some of the men from HomoRodeo.com. Vote for your favorite models and theirs outfits by donating money to that models “tip jar.” $1 = 1 Vote! The Fashion Show will start at 9:00 but the doors open at 8:00 allowing you time to mingle with the models.

After the fashion show, dance the night away while the final vote is tallied, then our MC Dr. Carolyn Ford will announce and crown the 2014 Guilty Pleasures King and Queen at 10:30.

Sorry, kids–this fashion show fundraiser sponsored by Sedona College of Metaphysical Studies, is for adults only and is a 21+ evening. Our sponsor and host, RELICS, will have drink specials and the models from HomoRodeo.com will be on hand to sell and sign 2015 calendars. HomoRodeo.com will donate 25% of all calendar sales back to Sedona/Verde Valley Pride over the course of the evening. So bring cash for the night and help raise some money for the organization and crown the first Guilty Pleasures King and Queen!

Saturday, September 27th

Meditation-LogoFor those of you who don’t stay out too late after the fashion show can attend the Saturday Morning Meditation from 8:00am to approximately 9:00am, guided by celebrated artist and spiritual mentor, Sherab Khandro. “Shey” as she’s known in the local community will lead a meditation focused on mindfulness and opening the heart. Comfortable shoes, a bottle of water and an open mind are all you need to bring as you learn simple practices that can be used every day to elevate our awareness and reduce stress. 

This is a free event, donations are welcomed.

FESTIVALLogoSaturday, September 27th, is the day you’ve been waiting for! The “Free2BU” Pride Festival starts at 11:00am and runs to 6:00pm in Old Town Cottonwood.

Join us for a celebration of life, love, education, history and a brighter future for all! Come to support equality, stay for the friends, live bands & events, a chance to meet the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, shopping galore, games and children’s activities, PRIDE education, support groups, emotional & spiritual counseling and so much more!

MC Clayton McKee comes back to the Verde to guide you through a day of fun! The Entertainment line up includes Mountain Stranded Time, Sister Lip, and the statewide favorite, The Sugar Thieves. Our Hour of Royalty Drag Show will feature crowd pleaser DiVa and her sisters Mya McKenzie and Desiree DeMornay. This year’s festival will feature “The Wall of History,” an educational foray into the history of the LGBT culture and the formation of PRIDE. (PSSST: Some of the answers to Sunday’s trivia questions at the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence brunch might be found in the information on the history walls…) A project which was designed to grow with time.

Festival entrance is $5 per person • $3 with Student ID • 10 & Under Free

AfterPartyLogoAfter the festival, come back out for Saturday night’s Official #Free2BU After Party in Cottonwood at Main Stage. Drinks, dancing and fun, fun fun!!! The Pubes will be on stage as well as DiVa and the girls, then dance the night away to our live DJ who will help you rock the night out! The doors open at 8pm. The crew at Main Stage will have drink specials for the night’s events.

There will be a cover charge of $5.

Sunday, September 28th

SALSA-Brunch-LogoThen put on your thinking caps for LGBT Jeopardy at the Salsa PRIDE Breakfast/Brunch with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at Oaxaca in Uptown Sedona, from 10:00am – 1:00pm. You can hang out with your new friends, expand your LGBT knowledge and win some fabulous prizes! We’re collecting some very impressive prizes for the game plus, the official drawing for our fine art raffle will be held directly after the LGBT Jeopardy game ends.

bingo-0610_9Take your chance at a win! Enter to be picked for a team! Teams will be made of 4 contestant. Teams will be asked to come up with the questions, just like on TV Game Show JEOPARDY with Alex Trebek. If chosen for the game, you could possibly walk away with special services from local professionals, fun prizes and more! Large and small prizes alike for the winners and participants!

Additional raffle tickets for our original art and fine art print work can be purchased for $5 each during the course of the festival weekend and very soon will be available for online purchase as well.  To learn more about the original artwork and fine art prints we are raffling off, stay tuned. Information will be posted soon!

$12 will gain you entry to the event, breakfast with tea or coffee and 1 raffle ticket.

Pool-Party-LogoDon’t take off those colors just yet, since there’s one more event–and bring the family!! Make a final splash with a dip at the Pride Family Pizza and Pool Party, where you can cool off from the weekend of celebrations and non-stop activity! Bring the floaties, flip-flops and family along with you to Sedona Municipal Pool and Rec Room for a few hours of lounging poolside and an awesome pizza party.

Pool opens at 2:00 pm and we’ll be splashin’ and eatin’ pizza until 5:00pm.

$5 per adult, $2 per child and $1 for 1 slice of pizza.

All proceeds to benefit the Sedona/Verde Valley Pride Scholarship Fund.
