Live theatrical event! National Tour!
‘The Dame’ on the Rocks performed at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre featuring award-winning Dame Edna impersonator Scott Mason
“The Dame” on the Rocks comes to Sedona when it is performed live, onstage by award-winning Dame Edna impersonator Scott Mason, who is currently playing to sold-out shows around the country. This outrageous, live theatrical event will be presented by the Sedona International Film Festival at its Mary D. Fisher Theatre. There will be four performances August 8-11.
Scott F. Mason celebrates over ten years of impersonating Dame Edna and has performed his impersonation throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Broadway, Florida, Las Vegas, and DC. Now, his show is touring around the country … and Sedona is one of the stops!
In February 2010, Mason auditioned for the real Dame Edna — Barry Humphries — for the title of “Understudy to Dame Edna” on Broadway, NY, while Humphries and singer Michael Feinstein were prepping their new show “All About Me.” Mason won the title over a dozen other contenders and appeared in the show’s Playbill. Greenwich Village Voice theater critic, Michael Musto praised his performance.
In 2010 and 2012 he won “Best Comedian” at the Las Vegas Reel Awards which is akin to the Oscars for the Tribute Artist Industry.
He participated in the Sunburst Conventions for Celebrity Impersonators since 2008 where he won “Funniest Male” three times and in 2011 was inducted into their Hall of Fame for Funniest Male. He also won “Best Transformation” in 2009, 2011, and 2012 and will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for it in 2013.
Mason’s “Dame” has been seen on the Rachel Ray show, Fox News, and the CBS Sunday Morning News. He is also featured prominently in the award winning 2010 documentary short subject “Just About Famous” which highlights the work of impersonators and is currently touring the states in a variety of film festivals.
Mason has been active in theater since 1985, and was a member of the National Dramatists Guild, having written over 25 plays produced in Delaware and Off-Off Broadway.
There will be four performances of “The Dame” on the Rocks. Showtimes will be 4 p.m. on Thursday; 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; 2 p.m. Matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $20 general admission and $17 for Film Festival members. All tickets include a meet-and-greet with Mason in the lobby after the show.
